    I'm Being Made Redundant!

  • Check your contract and ensure that you are getting the appropriate amount of redundancy pay and that all obligations are adhered to.

  • Ask your employer whether you might work fewer hours, or take a pay cut, instead of taking redundancy. Could you be retrained for another department?

  • Update your CV, get good references from your employer and start looking for an alternative position while you are still in work.

  • Call in favours from friends, network and use every avenue and resource available to help you find another job.

  • Remember that it is your position, not you, which has become redundant. You are a highly qualified and experienced professional. Look after yourself, and your self esteem.

  • If you feel hopeless and pessimistic, cannot concentrate or make decisions and no longer find pleasure in former interests or hobbies, consult a doctor immediately as you may be suffering from clinical depression.
