We are delighted to announce that LawCare will be working with the Open University, in 2018, to promote positive emotional and psychological approaches to working in the legal profession.
This work is part funded by a grant of £7,000 from the Wesleyan Foundation.
The project’s objectives are:• To prepare and pilot a suite of online educational resources addressing issues relating to emotional self-regulation skills and emotional wellbeing which are common to all sectors of the legal profession;• To prepare and pilot a tool kit for employers, professional bodies and other legal institutions to assist in promoting workplace and organisational cultural and institutional change in a way which enhances individual wellbeing.• To obtain data and feedback on the use of the above resources and tool kit to inform the development of further materials in accordance with the needs of the legal profession as a whole and/or particular sectors. We want the input of the legal community to ensure these resources are developed in response to your needs. The OU will be facilitating a focus group in Ireland as follows:
Thursday 22 February 4-6pmThe Law Society of IrelandBlackhall PlaceDublin 7D07 VY24The focus group has two overall aims. The main aim is to get your views on the direction and content of the new online materials. These online resources will be aimed at both individuals and employers and are designed to promote both individual emotional wellbeing and the creation of a psychologically healthy workplace.
Secondly, the discussions will help us better understand any issues relating to emotional wellbeing that are currently present within the legal profession – both on an individual level and within the legal community as a whole.
If you are a legal professional at any stage of your career, we would be really pleased to have you participate, please email Anna Buttimore at Anna.Buttimore@lawcare.org.uk to register your place.
