Mary Jackson, LawCare’s Coordinator for Ireland, was invited by the Meath Solicitors’ Bar Association to deliver a seminar entitled Working Well, Staying Well as part of their annual CPD day on Friday 17 November in Navan, Co Meath.
This was a new event for LawCare, which was well received by an audience willing to engage with the material, express their views and even take some time out to experience mindfulness.
Ms Jackson talked about the importance of looking after mental health, being aware of the possibility of Vicarious Trauma, and the perfectionist drive in the legal personality. She also encouraged the audience to become more self-aware and seek help with personal issues or difficulties.
“The Meath solicitors were in good form and participated well,” comments Ms Jackson. “The day ended with all of them writing down one positive change they could make on a place-card to put on their desk on Monday morning as a reminder of what it means to work well and stay well.”
